In a significant meeting held today in the temporary capital of Aden, Minister of Public Works and Roads, Engineer Hussein Al-Aqrobi, engaged with Major General Hamdi Shukri, Commander of the Fourth Military Region. They focused on coordinating and facilitating the procedures for receiving the weighbridges, following the Presidential Leadership Council’s Decision No. (11) of 2025.
During the meeting, which also included Deputy Minister of Public Works and Roads, Dr. Mohammed Thabet, the officials emphasized the need for enhanced collaboration in delivering the weighbridges to the Road and Bridge Maintenance Fund. This initiative aims to improve the fund’s ability to manage truck movements, enforce regulations, and protect the road network from damage caused by excessive loads.
Minister Al-Aqrobi stressed the importance of completing the delivery procedures in accordance with established guidelines. He noted that this would significantly enhance land transport efficiency and bolster efforts to protect the road infrastructure.
Major General Shukri reaffirmed the Fourth Military Region’s commitment to providing necessary support and maintaining ongoing coordination with relevant authorities to ensure the successful delivery of the weighbridges. He highlighted the critical role of this initiative in minimizing road damage from overloading and improving the efficiency of the land transport system, thereby safeguarding national investments in the road sector.
The meeting also addressed the resumption of work on the Al-Farsha – Tor Al-Baha road project, which has faced delays in recent years. The officials discussed strategies to complete this project, which will enhance the road network, improve connectivity between benefiting areas, and alleviate the hardships faced by citizens while facilitating transportation.
This collaborative effort marks a crucial step toward improving Yemen’s infrastructure and ensuring sustainable development in the region.
