Minister of Public Works Discusses Road Projects in Yemen

In a significant meeting held today in the temporary capital of Aden, Yemen’s Minister of Public Works and Roads, Engineer Salem Al-Huraizi, engaged with Juan Carlos, the Director of the Vital Link Project at the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS). The discussion focused on the mechanisms for implementing road projects and addressing critical public needs to enhance citizen safety.

Priorities for Road Development

During the meeting, which included the presence of the Ministry’s Undersecretary for Roads, Engineer Walid Radman, Minister Al-Huraizi emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts to improve Yemen’s road network. He pointed out that the ministry has established clear priorities for project implementation. These priorities align with a strategic plan aimed at supporting initiatives that directly impact the lives of residents. The ministry coordinates with local authorities to address the most pressing needs across various provinces, ensuring comprehensive development throughout the country.

Call for Increased Support

Minister Al-Huraizi praised the role of organizations in funding developmental projects. He urged stakeholders to intensify support for the road sector in Yemen, which will help achieve shared objectives and overcome existing challenges. His call reflects a commitment to enhancing infrastructure, which is vital for economic growth and community well-being.

UNOPS Commitment to Road Needs Assessment

In response, the UNOPS representative highlighted the intention to submit a detailed report outlining the urgent needs for road projects across different provinces. He noted the importance of the ministry’s approval for an evaluation of the project implementation unit, which demonstrates the ministry’s dedication to maintaining efficiency standards in project execution.

This meeting marks a crucial step towards revitalizing Yemen’s infrastructure, with a focus on road safety and development that benefits all citizens.
