Yemeni Embassy Celebrates 57th Independence Day in Jordan

The Yemeni Embassy in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan organized a celebration today to mark the 57th anniversary of the nation’s glorious Independence Day on November 30.

A Reflection on Historical Significance

Ambassador Dr. Jalal Faqira emphasized the importance of November 30, 1967, stating that this date represents the true embodiment of the Yemeni people’s determination to overcome adversity. He noted that it symbolizes the victory against one of the most powerful colonial empires of the time. Furthermore, this occasion reflects the collective rejection of any alternative division projects aimed at undermining full independence from colonial rule.

Unity and National Development

Ambassador Faqira highlighted the unity of the Yemeni people, stating that the aspirations of those in the north to rid themselves of tyranny complemented the desires of those in the south to liberate themselves from foreign occupation. This unity sparked the establishment of national systems dedicated to managing development and fostering economic, social, and political integration, ultimately striving for complete unity.

Continuing the Struggle for Sovereignty

The ambassador reiterated the revolutionary values instilled by the September and October revolutions, along with the significance of November 30. He called for renewed vigor in the national struggle to reclaim the state from the clutches of the Houthi insurgent militias. He asserted that it is not beyond the Yemeni people’s capabilities—who once toppled powerful colonial empires—to dismantle the current insurgent forces pursuing foreign agendas.

Commitment to Peace and Stability

Ambassador Faqira reaffirmed the commitment of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to establish peace and achieve security and stability in the region. He welcomed all regional and international initiatives aimed at realizing these objectives.

This celebration not only commemorated a pivotal moment in Yemen’s history but also served as a call to action for the Yemeni people to continue their pursuit of sovereignty and national unity.
