The Minister of Information: The international community faces a critical moment to halt Houthi terrorism in the Red Sea.

Yemen’s Minister of Information Warns of Escalating Threats in the Red Sea

Minister Highlights Serious Implications of Houthi Attacks

Yemen’s Minister of Information, Muammar Al-Eryani, condemned the recent terrorist attack by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia in the Red Sea. He described this act as a significant escalation against international maritime security and global energy supplies. Al-Eryani reiterated the Yemeni government’s warnings about the dangers posed by the Houthis’ control over parts of Yemen’s coastline. He emphasized that this control allows the militia to serve Iranian agendas while threatening vital international shipping routes.

International Community Faces a Critical Test

In a recent press statement, Al-Eryani stressed that this aggression presents a real test for the international community. He warned that any leniency in addressing these crimes would embolden the militia to expand its attacks. This could lead to a new reality in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab, mirroring Iran’s ambitions in the Strait of Hormuz. Such developments threaten global energy security, economic stability, and the interests of all nations.

Houthi Militia: A Growing Threat to Regional Stability

Al-Eryani pointed out that past experiences have shown the Houthi militia to be a “malignant cancer” threatening Yemen, the region, and international peace and security. He asserted that the militia consistently proves it does not understand the language of dialogue or respond to peace calls. Instead, it interprets any ceasefire as a sign of weakness, using it to regroup, reinforce its military capabilities, and launch further attacks.

Call for Strong Deterrence Against Terrorism

The minister emphasized that a firm response, grounded in legitimacy and international law, remains the only effective way to counter the militia’s terrorism. He called for protecting Yemen, the region, and international maritime routes from escalating threats.

Urgent Need for Action to Ensure Maritime Security

Al-Eryani concluded by stating that the Houthi militia and its backers must recognize that their escalation will not go unchallenged. He insisted that the international community must not allow Yemen’s coasts and territorial waters to become platforms for piracy, terrorism, and global extortion. He stressed that ensuring maritime security and eliminating threats in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab has become an urgent necessity that cannot be postponed. The safety of Yemen, the region, and international shipping lanes must not be compromised by Iranian adventures and their proxies.
