The Minister of Information stated that the Houthis mislead Yemenis with religious rhetoric to justify their involvement in conflicts that serve Iran.

Iranian Influence in Yemen: A Call for Clarity

Minister of Information Muammar Al-Eryani has accused the Iranian-backed Houthi militia of misleading the public. He claims they use inflammatory rhetoric to portray the ongoing conflict as a battle for the “Islamic nation.” Al-Eryani argues that the Houthis falsely frame Iran’s involvement as a “holy war,” suggesting that supporting Iran is a religious duty for all Yemenis. He emphasizes that this narrative ignores Iran’s troubling history since the so-called Islamic Revolution, which has been marked by inciting conflicts and destabilizing Arab and Islamic nations.

Iran’s Role in Regional Conflicts

In a recent press statement, Al-Eryani highlighted Iran’s direct involvement in bloodshed across several Arab nations, particularly Yemen, Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon. He pointed out that Iran has funded and armed sectarian militias, fueling internal conflicts and turning these countries into battlegrounds for proxy wars. This strategy has led to the destruction of state institutions, economic collapse, and the displacement of millions of civilians.

Targeting Arab and Islamic Nations

Al-Eryani noted that Iranian ballistic missiles and drones primarily target Arab and Islamic countries. These attacks have struck residential areas, airports, ports, hotels, water desalination plants, and oil facilities in at least twelve nations. This pattern reveals that the so-called “Axis of Resistance” directs its weapons more towards its Arab and Islamic neighbors than towards its declared adversaries.

Manipulating Religious Spaces

The minister criticized the Houthis for transforming mosques and religious platforms in their controlled areas into tools for incitement and spreading hate speech. He accused them of attempting to create deep divisions within Yemeni society. This strategy aims to reshape collective consciousness to align with Iran’s agenda, justifying the involvement of Yemenis in conflicts that do not serve their national interests.

A False Narrative of Religious Conflict

Al-Eryani dismissed the Houthi portrayal of the ongoing conflict as a “religious battle” as a blatant lie designed to mislead Yemenis. He pointed out that the militia has turned its controlled territories into a sphere of influence for Tehran, utilizing local resources to further its agenda. He warned that the Houthis are again attempting to use religious rhetoric as a political and military cover, dragging Yemen into a new confrontation. This conflict could come at a high cost, threatening the lives of Yemenis and the stability of their country, while primarily benefiting Iran’s expansionist ambitions.

Conclusion

Al-Eryani’s statements underscore the urgent need for clarity regarding the motivations behind the ongoing conflict in Yemen. As the situation evolves, it remains crucial for Yemenis to discern the true nature of the battles they face and the external influences at play.
