Minister of Higher Education Discusses Academic Collaboration with Baghdad University

Today, Dr. Khaled Al-Wasabi, Yemen’s Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, Technical Education, and Vocational Training, met with Dr. Bahaa Insaf, President of Baghdad University. The two leaders focused on strengthening scientific collaboration and academic exchange between Baghdad University and Yemeni universities.

Enhancing Cultural and Academic Ties

During the meeting, both parties discussed various strategies to deepen cultural ties in scientific research. They emphasized the importance of sending Yemeni graduate students to Baghdad University, conducting joint research projects, hosting academic staff, and sharing expertise between the institutions. These initiatives aim to foster a robust academic environment that benefits both countries.

Insights into Baghdad University

Dr. Al-Wasabi listened attentively as Dr. Insaf provided an overview of Baghdad University, the largest university in Iraq. The discussion included the status of Yemeni students studying at the university, highlighting their fields of study, skills, and academic performance. This information is crucial for understanding the integration of Yemeni students into the academic community in Iraq.

Addressing Higher Education Challenges in Yemen

Furthermore, Dr. Al-Wasabi reviewed the current state of higher education institutions in Yemen with the Baghdad University Council. He outlined the ministry’s efforts to enhance the scientific and research standards in Yemeni universities. Despite the challenging circumstances resulting from the Houthi militia’s actions, he reaffirmed the strong and enduring ties between Yemen and Iraq in the fields of science and culture.
