Today, Yemen’s Defense Minister, Major General Mohsen Al-Daari, held a meeting with the U.S. Ambassador to Yemen, Stephen Fagin, and U.S. Military Attaché Colonel Stewart Peebles. The discussions focused on the recent classification of the Houthi militia as a terrorist organization.

U.S. Decision on Houthi Militia Praised

During the meeting, Minister Al-Daari praised the U.S. administration’s decision to designate the Houthi militia as a terrorist organization. He emphasized the importance of implementing this decision rigorously and effectively. Furthermore, he highlighted the need to bolster the capabilities of the armed forces to continue the liberation efforts and restore state institutions.

Ongoing Violations by Houthi Militias

Al-Daari pointed out the ongoing violations and acts of terrorism committed by the Houthi militia against the Yemeni people. He specifically mentioned the plight of detainees in Houthi prisons, the abduction of international organization workers, and the torture of some individuals to death. He stressed the urgent need to deter these militias in defense of humanity.

Importance of National Sovereignty

The Defense Minister reiterated the significance of the armed forces asserting their sovereignty over all national territory. He underscored the necessity of securing maritime trade routes and restoring stability to Yemen and the broader region.

Discussions with Chinese and Indian Officials

In addition to his meeting with U.S. officials, Al-Daari also engaged with the Chargé d’Affaires of the People’s Republic of China in Yemen, Zhao Qing. They discussed the current situation in Yemen and explored opportunities to enhance cooperation in training and capacity building.

Moreover, Al-Daari met with Indian Military Attaché Colonel Sarabjit Singh to discuss ways to strengthen collaboration in military medical services and training for Yemeni personnel. The discussions included the needs of military hospitals for modern medical equipment and the reception of specialized medical missions to treat complex cases and train medical staff.

Attendance and Support
