Minister of Agriculture Discusses Resource Development and Revenue Enhancement

Today, in the temporary capital of Aden, Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Fisheries, Major General Salem Al-Saqtri, led a comprehensive meeting with directors, department heads, and financial specialists from the ministry. The gathering aimed to explore strategies for improving and developing the ministry’s resource allocation and revenue generation across its various sectors and agencies.

Fostering Economic Growth

During the meeting, participants discussed essential steps to enhance the business environment and stimulate economic growth. The focus centered on organizing and securing financial and monetary affairs. Furthermore, the attendees emphasized the importance of improving communication and coordination with agricultural and fisheries facilities in the liberated provinces.

Actionable Measures for Revenue Generation

The meeting concluded with the approval of several necessary actions to boost daily production income from agricultural and fishery exports. This initiative aligns with the public spending plan and involves evaluating the status of ports in the provinces. The discussions also highlighted the need for accountability and motivation for workers, as well as the potential reevaluation of fees for certain resources. Participants agreed to propose suitable solutions that consider the current situation in the country.

Strengthening Financial Resource Management

Minister Al-Saqtri stressed the importance of enhancing financial resource collection and management. He underscored the need to improve revenue generation while preserving resources. The minister called for the activation of tax collection mechanisms in accordance with existing regulations and laws governing the ministry’s agricultural and fishery sectors.

Additionally, the Minister emphasized the necessity of developing financial policies regarding revenue, expenditure, and oversight. He advocated for improving the overall framework of the ministry’s annual budget within the broader state policy. Monthly reports will be essential for evaluating resource collection processes, addressing any discrepancies in revenue collection, and ensuring that expenditures align with designated purposes.
