The “Masam” project, operated by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, recently conducted a significant operation to eliminate a large quantity of unexploded ordnance in the Dofas Valley, located in the Zinjibar district of Abyan Governorate. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to enhance community safety and protect civilian lives.
According to a statement from the Masam media office, the operation successfully destroyed 6,383 pieces of various munitions and war remnants. This included 222 shells, 523 fuses, 5,551 rounds of ammunition, 17 anti-personnel mines, 6 anti-tank mines, 36 bombs, and 28 naval torpedoes.
Mundhir Qasim, the leader of the special operations team, confirmed that the destruction took place in a secure area, far from residential and agricultural zones. He emphasized that the team adhered strictly to international standards, despite facing numerous field challenges.
The Masam project continues to play a crucial role in clearing Yemen of dangerous remnants of war, contributing to the safety and well-being of its communities. As efforts persist, the project aims to foster a safer environment for all civilians in the region.
