King Salman Humanitarian Aid Project Continues Efforts to Clear Yemen of Landmines

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center’s “Masam” project is actively working to clear Yemen’s land from landmines planted by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia. This humanitarian mission aims to protect civilians and create a safe environment in liberated areas.

Field Achievements for October

From October 1 to 24, the “Masam” teams successfully removed 4,130 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices. The breakdown of these efforts includes:

  • 3,786 unexploded munitions
  • 272 anti-tank mines
  • 62 anti-personnel mines
  • 10 explosive devices

Additionally, the teams cleared 1,100,201 square meters of Yemeni land during this period.

Demolition Operations in Marib

Field teams conducted demolition operations in the Al-Wadi district of Marib Governorate. They detonated a quantity of landmines and shells collected from contaminated areas over the past weeks. This effort is part of the safe disposal of war remnants.

Urgent Response in Hajjah

In response to a citizen’s report about an anti-tank minefield west of Al-Makhazeen village in the Midi district, “Masam” teams performed a technical survey of the area. They successfully neutralized several mines to ensure the safety of local residents.

Awareness Campaign in Taiz

The project teams organized an awareness campaign at Al-Shadhili School in the Al-Mokha district of Taiz Governorate. This initiative targeted over 230 students, educating them about the types of landmines and how to report them. The campaign aims to enhance community awareness.

Project Achievements Since Inception

Since its launch in June 2018, the “Masam” project has achieved significant milestones by:

  • Removing 520,629 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices
  • Clearing over 72,012,339 square meters of Yemeni land
