The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center’s “Masam” project is actively working to clear Yemen’s land from landmines planted by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia. This humanitarian mission aims to protect civilians and create a safe environment in liberated areas.
From October 1 to 24, the “Masam” teams successfully removed 4,130 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices. The breakdown of these efforts includes:
Additionally, the teams cleared 1,100,201 square meters of Yemeni land during this period.
Field teams conducted demolition operations in the Al-Wadi district of Marib Governorate. They detonated a quantity of landmines and shells collected from contaminated areas over the past weeks. This effort is part of the safe disposal of war remnants.
In response to a citizen’s report about an anti-tank minefield west of Al-Makhazeen village in the Midi district, “Masam” teams performed a technical survey of the area. They successfully neutralized several mines to ensure the safety of local residents.
The project teams organized an awareness campaign at Al-Shadhili School in the Al-Mokha district of Taiz Governorate. This initiative targeted over 230 students, educating them about the types of landmines and how to report them. The campaign aims to enhance community awareness.
