Indian Embassy Celebrates 76th National Day in Aden

On Monday, the Indian Embassy hosted a celebration in Aden, the temporary capital of Yemen, marking the 76th National Day of the Republic of India. This event highlighted the enduring friendship between India and Yemen.
Dignitaries Attend the Celebration
The celebration attracted several prominent figures, including Dr. Qassem Buhaibeh, Yemen’s Minister of Public Health and Population; Major General Salem Al-Socotri, Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Fisheries; and Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Salem Al-Wali. Additionally, Badr Maeen, the Secretary-General of the Local Council of Aden, attended alongside various political, diplomatic, military, security, and social leaders, as well as business representatives from both nations.
Strengthening Bilateral Ties
During the event, Indian Ambassador to Yemen, Dr. Suhail Khan, emphasized the strong ties and shared experiences between the two countries across economic and cultural sectors. He outlined the areas of cooperation, which include health, education, humanitarian aid, training, and capacity building. The ambassador reaffirmed the Indian government’s unwavering support for stability and development in Yemen.
Historical Relations Highlighted
Dr. Qassem Buhaibeh, the Minister of Public Health and Population, spoke about the deep-rooted historical relations between India and Yemen. He noted that India has supported Yemen’s journey toward independence and development over the decades. This support has manifested through the Joint Committee for Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation, which has led to significant agreements in various fields.
Acknowledging Trade Partnerships
The Minister highlighted India’s role as a key trading partner for Yemen, particularly in health, education, and energy sectors. He praised India’s ongoing support for the legitimate Yemeni government and the United Nations’ efforts for a political resolution. Buhaibeh expressed hope for the resumption and enhancement of all forms of cooperation between the two friendly nations.
This celebration not only commemorated India’s National Day but also reinforced the commitment to fostering a collaborative relationship that benefits both countries.
