The Yemeni Parliament has praised the Arab Republic of Egypt for its support of the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This stance reflects Egypt’s historical role in safeguarding Arab national security and underscores a shared responsibility arising from brotherly ties and common destiny. The Parliament emphasized that such support is crucial in light of the challenges facing the Arab nation.
In a statement issued by the Parliament, members lauded the leadership of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and the positions of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. They highlighted the historical bonds and strategic interests that unite the two brotherly nations. The Parliament also acknowledged the roles of the National Defense Council and the Egyptian Parliament in fulfilling their constitutional responsibilities, which demonstrate the importance of political will and constitutional institutions in protecting the higher interests of states and peoples.
The statement affirmed that Arab national security constitutes an integrated system, where the stability of any state is interconnected with the security of its Arab surroundings. The Egyptian position represents a significant step toward solidifying the concept of collective Arab security, emphasizing unity of fate and mutual responsibility in confronting the challenges and threats targeting the region’s countries.
The Parliament noted that Egypt, with its historical and strategic weight, remains a fundamental pillar in the equation of Arab security. It pointed out that the security of Egypt, the Arabian Gulf, and the Red Sea forms an interconnected system involving considerations of sovereignty, stability, freedom of navigation, and international trade.
The statement explained that the Red Sea holds a vital position in this equation due to the strategic link between the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and the Suez Canal. This connection makes the security of both areas a shared interest for the Arab nation and the global economy.
The Parliament recalled Egypt’s historical stance in supporting the September 26 Revolution of 1962 and its assistance to the Yemeni people in defending the republican system. It affirmed that these positions will remain a testament to Egypt’s contributions to its Arab brothers in their struggles for freedom and liberation.
The Parliament clarified that the current challenges facing Yemen, particularly the project of the Houthi terrorist militias, necessitate continued support for the Yemeni people in protecting their revolution and republic while restoring state institutions. It emphasized that the battle in Yemen represents a defense of the national state project and the people’s right to freedom and citizenship against the projects of lineage, tyranny, and the undermining of national institutions.
