The annual Heritage Festival and Camel Racing event concluded today in the Aseelan District of Shabwa Governorate, celebrating the theme “Our Heritage is Nobility and Authenticity.”
Ali Al-Hajri, the Deputy Governor of Shabwa, congratulated everyone on the success of this significant cultural event. He emphasized the festival’s importance and its deep connection to the rich history and cultural heritage of the Aseelan District.
Festival Committee Chairman Saleh Al-Khabsha reported a remarkable increase in participation, with the number of provinces represented rising from two to eight. He noted that the event attracted 274 camel racers and 47 horse racers from various districts within the governorate.
Sheikh Ali Al-Harithi, a prominent community figure, expressed the pride of Aseelan residents in hosting this annual heritage festival. He highlighted the vast reservoir of popular heritage and the ongoing efforts to preserve and renew it.
The closing ceremony featured the presence of Shabwa Deputy Governors Mohammed Al-Fatimi and Jumaan Sasyan, along with Aseelan Local Secretary Ahmed Karda. The event included several poetic recitations that celebrated the significance of camels and horses in Arab and Islamic history. Additionally, the top five competitors received cash prizes, and all official and commercial entities that contributed to the festival’s success were honored with certificates of appreciation.
This year’s festival not only showcased the region’s cultural richness but also fostered community spirit and pride in local traditions.
