The Head of the Consultation and Reconciliation Authority meets with the Head of the European Union Mission.

Meeting in Aden: Key Discussions on Yemen’s Political and Economic Landscape

Today, in the temporary capital of Aden, Mohammed Al-Ghaithi, the head of the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission, met with Gabriel Monera Vinyals, the head of the European Union mission, along with ambassadors from France and the Netherlands, and the chargé d’affaires of Germany in Yemen.

Political and Economic Updates

During the meeting, which included Abdullah Naaman, a member of the commission and Secretary-General of the Popular Unity Nasserite Organization, participants discussed the latest political and economic developments in Yemen. They highlighted the commission’s efforts to support the Presidential Leadership Council. The discussions focused on maintaining consensus, enhancing coordination, and fostering dialogue among various political factions. Additionally, they emphasized the importance of supporting government initiatives, economic reforms, and the activation of state institutions.

Urgent Economic Challenges

Al-Ghaithi stressed that the difficult economic and living conditions in Yemen require immediate attention. He called for a collective responsibility among all stakeholders, including regional and international communities. He warned that delays in addressing these issues could lead to costly repercussions across all levels, affecting political stability, security, and future peace prospects.

Addressing Houthi Threats

Furthermore, Al-Ghaithi asserted that the Houthi militia remains uncommitted to any genuine peace efforts. He pointed out that their ongoing terrorist activities, both locally and regionally, underscore the need for coordinated responses at local, regional, and international levels. This approach aims to eliminate threats and restore stability in Yemen and the surrounding region.

Continued Support from the European Union

In response, the head of the EU mission, along with the ambassadors from France and the Netherlands, and the German chargé d’affaires, reaffirmed the European Union’s commitment to supporting the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government. They expressed their backing for the efforts of the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission.

This meeting highlights the ongoing international focus on Yemen’s complex challenges and the collaborative efforts required to foster peace and stability in the region.
