Jordan’s Support for Yemen’s Legitimacy Highlighted by Foreign Minister

The Yemeni Foreign Minister, Dr. Afrah Al-Zouba, praised the steadfast brotherly positions of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II. She emphasized Jordan’s support for constitutional legitimacy and its backing of the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government.

Importance of Arab Solidarity

During her meeting today with the President of the Jordanian Senate, Faisal Al-Fayez, the minister underscored the significance of Arab solidarity in supporting Yemen during this critical phase. She expressed the Yemeni government’s commitment to enhancing coordination and cooperation with Jordan to address shared challenges.

Current Situation in Yemen

Al-Zouba reviewed the developments in Yemen, focusing on efforts to end the Houthi militia’s coup and restore state institutions. She asserted that establishing state authority across the entire national territory is essential for protecting Yemenis and preserving the unity and sovereignty of their country. Furthermore, she highlighted the need to prevent the exploitation of Yemen’s resources to serve Iranian agendas. Supporting the Yemeni people’s right to restore their state is crucial for safeguarding regional security.

Jordan’s Firm Stance

In response, Faisal Al-Fayez reaffirmed Jordan’s unwavering support for Yemeni legitimacy and its solidarity with the government in restoring its institutions. He commended efforts to enable the state to assert its authority over all Yemeni territories and restore security and stability. Al-Fayez reiterated Jordan’s rejection of direct Iranian aggression or its proxies in the region, emphasizing the importance of protecting regional security and respecting international law.
