Today, Yemeni Foreign Minister Dr. Shai Al-Zindani met with U.S. Ambassador to Yemen, Stephen Fagin, to discuss the latest developments in Yemen. This meeting coincided with the implementation of the U.S. decision to designate the Houthi militias as a foreign terrorist organization. Additionally, several Houthi leaders received classification as global terrorists.
During the meeting, Minister Al-Zindani expressed the Yemeni government’s strong support for the U.S. designation. He emphasized the significance of this decision in weakening the Houthi militias. The minister highlighted that the classification would hinder the militias’ access to weapons and funding, effectively cutting off their sources of terrorism.
Furthermore, Minister Al-Zindani assured that the Yemeni government is ready to enhance coordination and cooperation with the U.S. government. This collaboration aims to ensure the effective implementation of the designation while mitigating any negative impacts on the humanitarian situation in Yemen.
In response, Ambassador Fagin reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to supporting the Yemeni leadership and government. He noted that the designation responds to the threats posed by the Houthi militias to U.S. security and the stability of Yemen, the region, and the world. The ambassador stressed the importance of strengthening coordination and cooperation between the two allied nations.
This dialogue underscores the ongoing efforts to address the challenges posed by the Houthi militias and the commitment of both the Yemeni government and the United States to work together for a more stable and secure Yemen.
