The Yemeni Foreign Minister, Dr. Afrah Al-Zouba, today briefed Arab ambassadors accredited to the Federal Republic of Germany on the latest developments in Yemen. She emphasized the need for enhanced coordination to address the military escalation by the Iran-backed Houthi militia.
During the meeting, the minister highlighted the consequences of Houthi attacks on civilians, particularly the suffering of residents in Taiz Governorate. The ongoing siege has exacerbated the humanitarian situation, restricting civilian movement and access to essential needs.
Dr. Al-Zouba also addressed the issue of the kidnapping of United Nations staff and humanitarian workers. She asserted that the lack of deterrent measures has encouraged the Houthi militia to continue its violations and assaults both within Yemen and across its borders.
The Foreign Minister urged the Arab ambassadors to inform their governments about these developments. She called for continued coordination in regional and international forums, building on Arab support for the legitimate government. This support aims to implement measures that deter Houthi attacks and protect civilians.
In response, the Arab ambassadors condemned the Houthi assaults in Yemen and on Saudi Arabian territory. They reaffirmed their countries’ support for the legitimate leadership, the unity of Yemen, and its sovereignty. The ambassadors expressed solidarity with the Yemeni people in their efforts to restore state institutions and end the Houthi coup.
