Yemeni Foreign Minister Dr. Afrah Al-Zubaidi met today with Remy Fierro, Chair of the Yemeni-French Friendship Group in the French Senate. They discussed the latest developments in Yemen, particularly the escalating terrorist activities of the Houthi militia against civilian targets and international shipping routes.
Dr. Al-Zubaidi emphasized that Houthi threats, along with their coordination with terrorist organizations in the Horn of Africa, transform the militia into a cross-border danger. She called for a firm international stance to address this issue.
The minister highlighted the humanitarian suffering caused by the Houthi blockade of the city of Taiz. She detailed the violations committed against United Nations staff and humanitarian workers, including abductions and torture, which recently led to the death of UN employee Mohammed Al-Shami.
In response, Remy Fierro reaffirmed France and the European Union’s commitment to adopting a new approach to the Yemeni situation that aligns with the evolving field conditions. She reiterated her country’s rejection of all Houthi violations against civilians.
The meeting also included the presence of Riyad Yasin, the Yemeni Ambassador to France.
