The Education Office in Marib receives a school for displaced residents of Al-Jawba, supported by Kuwait.

The Education Office in Marib Province has officially received a new school, named Al-Wahda Basic School, designated for displaced families from the Al-Jubah district. This initiative comes through the Kuwait-based Al-Rahma International Charity Association, facilitated by the Yemen International Development Agency as part of the “Kuwait Stands by You” campaign.

School Handover Ceremony

The handover ceremony took place today, with a total investment of $57,000 allocated for the construction, furnishing, and equipping of the school. The event featured the Deputy Director of the Education Office, Abdulaziz Al-Bakri, and the Executive Director of the Yemen International Development Agency, Dr. Abdul-Salam Al-Salami. They were joined by Naji Mosaad Baheeb, the Secretary-General of the Local Council in Al-Jubah, and Ismail Al-Saidi, a representative from the Executive Unit for Managing Displaced Persons Camps.

School Facilities and Capacity

The newly established school comprises five container classrooms, administrative offices, and sanitation facilities. It has the capacity to accommodate 400 students, providing essential educational opportunities for those affected by displacement.

Supporting Education Amid Challenges

Al-Bakri emphasized the importance of this school in enabling displaced students from the Al-Rakah camp in Al-Jubah, as well as local students from the Al-Juboul area, to access education. He acknowledged the significant challenges faced by the Education Office in accommodating the growing number of displaced individuals. Al-Bakri also expressed gratitude for Kuwait’s ongoing support for Yemen, particularly in the education sector.

Ongoing Educational Initiatives

Dr. Al-Salami highlighted that this school represents one of many interventions by the Yemen International Development Agency aimed at bolstering the education sector. He noted that the agency has implemented several educational projects funded by Kuwait, reinforcing their commitment to humanitarian partnerships with the Education Office in the province.

This new school stands as a beacon of hope for displaced families, ensuring that education remains accessible even in the face of adversity.
