The US dollar retained its gains today after reaching its highest level in two weeks. Markets are closely watching upcoming monetary policy decisions from several central banks, particularly the Federal Reserve.
The dollar index, which measures the performance of the US currency against a basket of six major currencies, recorded 102.40 points. This figure remains close to its highest levels since October 14.
The euro traded at 1.1124 dollars, while the British pound declined by 0.1 percent to 1.32945 dollars. The dollar stabilized against the Japanese yen at 157.945 yen after fluctuating during trading.
The Australian dollar increased by 0.1 percent to 0.70345 dollars, supported by data showing a rise in the inflation rate to 1.3 percent in the third quarter, compared to 0.6 percent in the previous quarter. Conversely, the New Zealand dollar fell by approximately 1.7 percent, reaching its lowest level at 0.55831 dollars. This decline followed the Reserve Bank of New Zealand’s decision to keep interest rates unchanged at 2.75 percent, contrary to market expectations.
Additionally, the US dollar rose against the Canadian dollar by 0.1 percent to 1.4063 Canadian dollars, ahead of the Bank of Canada’s announcement regarding interest rates.
