The Development Planning Workshop and the First Arabic Calligraphy Exhibition Open in Taiz.

In Taiz, Dr. Abdulqawi Al-Mekhlafi, the Deputy Governor, emphasized the significance of rehabilitating the infrastructure damaged by the war ignited by the Houthi militias, backed by the Iranian regime, across various sectors, particularly the service sectors.

This statement was made during the inauguration of the Development Planning Workshop and the first Arabic Calligraphy Exhibition in the province, organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) with support from the European Union, as part of a project aimed at enhancing institutional and economic resilience.

Al-Mekhlafi praised the planning and development activities carried out by the UNDP, urging participants to actively engage with the workshop’s objectives and contents. He called for the development of a realistic vision and comprehensive solutions for urban planning, the creation of a sustainable environment, and the reduction of climate risks in the province.

Nabil Jamal, the Director of Planning and International Cooperation, outlined the workshop’s goals and themes, along with the province’s requirements for urban development advancement according to the economic and social development plan prepared by the province in collaboration with international and local entities to achieve sustainable development.

In another context, Deputy Governor Al-Mekhlafi inaugurated the first Arabic Calligraphy Exhibition, featuring calligraphers from 15 provinces and more than 150 artistic panels representing various types of Arabic calligraphy by 60 talented young artists. This exhibition reflected the youth’s awareness of the importance of cultural and civilizational heritage, with Arabic calligraphy being at the forefront.

Al-Mekhlafi commended this cultural event that brought together talented, creative, and exceptional individuals, showcasing the unity of the social fabric. He appreciated the youth’s awareness of the nation’s issues and their cultural and civilizational heritage.
