Today, Defense Minister Major General Mohsen Al-Daari held separate meetings with Zhao Cheng, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Yemen, and Soshiro Shimamura, the Japanese Military Attaché in Yemen. These discussions focused on the current situation in Yemen, particularly regarding the actions of Houthi militias.
During the meetings, the officials addressed the ongoing threats posed by Houthi forces, who continue to target commercial vessels and disrupt international shipping routes in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. These aggressive actions not only harm Yemen’s economy but also pose significant risks to global trade and international security.
Major General Al-Daari emphasized that stabilizing the region and ensuring freedom of maritime navigation requires the support of the Yemeni government and armed forces. He pointed out that the Houthi militia has consistently demonstrated a disregard for peace, frequently breaking promises and reneging on agreements.
This meeting underscores the importance of international cooperation in addressing the challenges facing Yemen and the broader region. As tensions persist, the commitment to secure maritime routes remains a top priority for all parties involved.
