Minister of Defense Visits First Marine Infantry Brigade in Socotra

Socotra, Yemen – Today, Minister of Defense Lieutenant General Mohsen Al-Dhahri, accompanied by Socotra Governor Raafat Al-Thaqali, conducted an inspection visit to the First Marine Infantry Brigade in the Socotra Archipelago. The visit aimed to assess the brigade’s readiness and the conditions of its personnel.

Emphasizing Military Discipline and Readiness

During his address to the brigade members, Minister Al-Dhahri conveyed greetings from the political leadership, represented by the Presidential Leadership Council and the government. He underscored the importance of military discipline, urging the troops to enhance their training efforts and improve their operational readiness. Al-Dhahri praised the security, stability, and coexistence enjoyed by the Socotra Archipelago, highlighting the need to strengthen this stability as a foundation for development and prosperity. He also acknowledged the generous support provided by the coalition led by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to Yemen across various sectors.

Addressing Challenges and Unifying Efforts

Following his speech, the Minister held a comprehensive meeting with the leadership and officers of the First Marine Infantry Brigade. He listened to their concerns, needs, and the challenges they face. Al-Dhahri emphasized the necessity of unifying efforts and mobilizing resources to confront the threats posed by the Iranian-backed Houthi militias. He pointed out the militia’s crimes, including attacks on vital facilities and oil ports, as well as their systematic destruction of the national economy.

Strengthening Morale and Cooperation

Governor Al-Thaqali highlighted the significance of the Minister’s visit in boosting the morale of the stationed forces in the archipelago. He reaffirmed the cooperation and synergy among various military units and security agencies to maintain stability in the province.

The Minister’s visit included the presence of Major General Abdulaziz Al-Faqih, Chief of Logistics Support, and Colonel Ali Hatim, Advisor to the Minister of Defense for Training.

This visit underscores the commitment of Yemen’s leadership to support its armed forces and ensure the security and stability of the Socotra Archipelago.
