The U.S. dollar and most major currencies remained stable on Monday, as investors focused on the upcoming U.S. midterm elections scheduled for this week.
The euro hovered near its lowest level in 17 months, recording 1.1159 dollars during early Asian trading. Meanwhile, the British pound held steady at 1.3387 dollars.
The dollar index, which measures the performance of the U.S. currency against a basket of major currencies, stabilized at 101.94 points. In contrast, the Japanese yen fell by 0.15 percent to 157.78 yen per dollar, while the Australian dollar remained unchanged at 0.7033 U.S. dollars.
The New Zealand dollar also experienced a decline, dropping by 0.11 percent to 0.5625 U.S. dollars after a 1.2 percent decrease last week.
The stability in global currency markets comes as investors await the results of the U.S. midterm elections and their potential impact on economic and financial policies in the near future.
