The ongoing Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon have resulted in a staggering toll of 2,119 fatalities and 10,019 injuries since October 8, 2023. In the last 24 hours alone, the violence claimed 36 lives and injured 150 individuals. These figures emerged from a report released by Nasser Yassin, the Minister of Environment and Coordinator of the Government Emergency Committee, detailing the recent Israeli attacks and the current situation in Lebanon.

Details of the Recent Attacks

The report highlights that the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health confirmed the latest casualty figures, stating, “In the past 24 hours, we recorded 36 martyrs and 150 injuries, bringing the total since the onset of hostilities to 2,119 martyrs and 10,019 injuries.” Moreover, the report noted that Israeli forces conducted 137 airstrikes within the last day, raising the total number of assaults to 9,400 since the conflict began.

Displacement and Humanitarian Response

As the violence escalates, the humanitarian situation grows increasingly dire. The report indicated that authorities have opened 990 shelters for displaced individuals, with 781 centers reaching full capacity. Currently, approximately 181,700 displaced persons have registered in these shelters, as reported by the National Operations Room.

Additionally, the Lebanese General Security documented the movement of 304,897 Syrian citizens and 107,333 Lebanese nationals crossing into Syria from September 23 until October 8.

Israeli warplanes initiated a series of extensive airstrikes on September 23, targeting various regions, including southern Lebanon, the Beqaa Valley, Beirut, the southern suburbs, Mount Lebanon, and northern Lebanon.
