He aimed to ensure their safety and that of the government members following the terrorist attack by Houthi militias using missiles and drones on the Maashiq Presidential Palace in the temporary capital, Aden.
Initial Reports on the Attack
President Alimi received preliminary reports from the Council members and the Prime Minister regarding the impact of the cowardly terrorist attack. He directed the relevant authorities to care for the families of the martyrs and the injured, complete investigations, and enhance necessary measures to protect state institutions and their employees.
Houthi Attack as a Threat to Regional Security
The Chairman of the Council emphasized that the Houthi terrorist attack on Maashiq represents a continuation of the militia’s pattern of aggression against airports, oil facilities, and civilian sites in Yemen and the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He highlighted the threat this poses to regional security and maritime routes.
Commitment to National Responsibilities
President Alimi stated that targeting the headquarters of the presidency and government once again reveals the terrorist nature of the Houthi militias and their inability to confront the Yemeni people’s will to restore their national institutions. He stressed that the state will continue to fulfill its constitutional responsibilities firmly, asserting that protecting its sovereign facilities and citizens is a non-negotiable duty.
Military and Security Measures
The President instructed military and security authorities to take necessary actions to protect state institutions, counter terrorist threats, and respond appropriately to sources of danger, in accordance with the law while ensuring the protection of civilians and civilian objects.
Updates on “Dawn of Yemen” Operation
In related developments, President Alimi continued to monitor updates on the “Dawn of Yemen” operation and the progress of military operations across various fronts. He listened to briefings from Minister of Defense Lieutenant General Taher Al-Aqili, Chief of General Staff and Joint Operations Commander Lieutenant General Sagheer Bin Aziz, Commander of the Fourth Military Region Major General Hamdi Shukri, and the governors of Taiz and Lahij, Nabil Shamsan and Murad Al-Halimi, regarding the field situation and the emergency response to the humanitarian crisis exacerbated by the escalation of Houthi militias supported by the Iranian regime.
Military Operations and Achievements
The briefings included a presentation of the results of military operations and targets executed by the armed forces, supported by the Coalition to Support Legitimacy, since the launch of the “Dawn of Yemen” operation. According to operational estimates, these efforts surpassed 17,000 air and ground targets, encompassing military sites, gatherings, and capabilities of the Houthi militias across multiple fronts.
Acknowledgment of Armed Forces’ Valor
President Alimi praised the bravery of the armed forces and all military formations, as well as the popular resistance, commending their resilience and capability across various fronts. He also appreciated the steadfast brotherly positions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the pivotal role of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in assisting the Yemeni state and its armed forces, deterring Houthi terrorism, and neutralizing its military capabilities and funding sources for its terrorist activities.
Humanitarian Situation Reports
The President listened to reports from the governors of Taiz and Lahij regarding humanitarian and service conditions, emergency measures to address displacement waves, and the needs of affected families. He emphasized securing essential services and supply routes while enhancing coordination between local authorities, military leadership, and security agencies to ensure civilian protection and alleviate their humanitarian suffering.
Houthi Violations in Taiz
President Alimi reviewed the coercive measures faced by areas infiltrated by Houthi militias in Taiz, which included forced recruitment campaigns, attempts to impose ideological indoctrination programs, and efforts to alter the national identity of educational and community institutions. He warned against the dangers of these practices and violations, reaffirming the state’s responsibility to protect citizens and their rights while holding those involved in violations accountable under the law.
Ongoing Commitment to Restore State Authority
The President reiterated that the “Dawn of Yemen” operation continues according to its declared objectives to restore state institutions and assert authority over the entire national territory, reaching the capital, Sana’a. He noted that the escalation of Houthi militias and their attacks on state institutions and civilians further underscores the necessity of ending the coup and preventing the monopolization of weapons and power outside the state’s framework.
