President Rashad Muhammad Alimi Arrives in New York for UN General Assembly

Participation in the 79th Session

On Saturday, President Dr. Rashad Muhammad Alimi, along with council members Aidarus Al-Zubaidi and Othman Majli, arrived in New York City to participate in the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly. This annual event gathers world leaders and representatives to discuss pressing global issues.

Key Address on Yemen’s Situation

During the assembly, President Alimi will deliver a speech representing the Republic of Yemen. His address will focus on the current local situation and the international support needed for the Presidential Leadership Council and the government. The aim is to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people and to achieve comprehensive peace based on national, regional, and international frameworks.

Discussion on Economic Reforms and Global Challenges

In conjunction with the high-profile event, President Alimi will also speak at the Future Summit. His remarks will highlight Yemen’s economic and institutional reforms, as well as strategies to address interconnected challenges. He will emphasize Yemen’s commitment to coordinated efforts with regional allies and international partners to meet the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

High-Level Discussions on Humanitarian and Economic Conditions

Amid the UN meetings, President Alimi and council members will engage in high-level discussions regarding the humanitarian and economic conditions in Yemen. They will address the catastrophic consequences of Houthi terrorist attacks on oil facilities and international shipping routes, which receive support from the Iranian regime.

Bilateral Meetings with Delegation Leaders

Additionally, the President and council members will hold separate meetings with various delegation leaders. These discussions will focus on bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest across all levels.

Accompanying Delegation

President Alimi and the council members are accompanied by Dr. Sha’if Mohsen Al-Zindani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.

Reception by UN Representatives

Upon arrival, they were welcomed by Yemen’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Abdullah Al-Saadi, and Yemen’s Ambassador to the United States, Mohammed Al-Hadrami.

This visit marks a significant opportunity for Yemen to engage with the international community and advocate for support in addressing its ongoing challenges.
