The Minister of Information condemns Houthi arrests of dozens in Ibb to suppress celebrations of the September 26 Revolution.

Title: Yemeni Minister Condemns Houthi Arrest Campaign in Ibb

Introduction

Yemeni Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Muammar Al-Eryani, has strongly condemned the recent wave of arrests carried out by the Iran-aligned Houthi militia in Ibb Governorate. This crackdown targeted dozens of local leaders, including sheikhs, educators, politicians, journalists, activists, and ordinary citizens. Al-Eryani described the militia’s actions as a desperate attempt to undermine the will of the people and suppress their celebrations of the 62nd anniversary of the September 26 Revolution.

Details of the Arrests

In a press statement, Al-Eryani highlighted specific cases of abduction by the Houthis. The militia kidnapped Abdulaziz Al-Fadhli, lawyer Akram Al-Tahiri from Jarfah neighborhood in Ibb city, as well as Khaled Al-Juhai, the mayor of Al-Mashnah district, and Abdul-Raouf Abdul-Jabbar Al-Hashash from the Al-Munail neighborhood. Additionally, numerous individuals were taken from the Al-Sadda district, including Ameen Al-Ashwal, Abdul-Ilah Al-Yajuri, Ahmed Abdo Hussein Al-Mughni, and others. The militia also apprehended Fad Al-Dah and Mohammed Yahya Al-Kabari from Dhay Al-Safal district, along with Yahya Al-Jashani from the Old City neighborhood and Amjad Marai.

Resistance to Houthi Control

Al-Eryani emphasized that the Houthi militia recognizes that Ibb has never supported their extremist ideology imported from Iran. He asserted that their presence in the region will not last, regardless of their increasing crimes and violations. He reminded the public that Ibb is the birthplace of revolutionary leaders such as the late Ali Abdu Al-Mughni and Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Maqalih, and it will not surrender its fate to a militia rooted in historical oppression.

Call for Unity Against Terrorism

The Minister urged the sheikhs, dignitaries, and prominent figures of Ibb to unite and take a stand against the Houthi terrorism that has crossed all red lines. He called for a collective effort to halt the systematic crimes and violations committed by the militia against their fellow citizens, emphasizing the importance of a dignified participation in the upcoming celebration of the September 26 Revolution.

International Appeal for Action

Al-Eryani also appealed to the international community, the United Nations, the UN envoy, and human rights organizations to condemn the daily crimes and violations perpetrated by the Houthi militia against civilians. He urged them to pressure the militia to release all those detained for their political and media activities without conditions. Furthermore, he called for the classification of the Houthis as a “global terrorist organization.”

Conclusion

The ongoing situation in Ibb highlights the urgent need for international attention and action to address the escalating violence and human rights abuses in Yemen. As the anniversary of the September 26 Revolution approaches, the call for unity and resistance against oppression remains critical for the people of Ibb and the broader Yemeni society.
