On Thursday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, convened a significant meeting with Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak and Chief Justice Mohsen Talib Abubakar. The meeting also included the Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen, Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Maabqi, and Ministers of Finance, Salem bin Breik, and Justice, Judge Badr Al-Aradah.
The participants dedicated the meeting to discussing the judicial authority’s role in enhancing the state’s prestige and enforcing the rule of law. They also addressed the necessary support for justice officials, emphasizing their commitment to serving the public by ensuring justice for the wronged and protecting public funds.
President Alimi highlighted the meeting’s importance in light of the current political, economic, and field developments. He outlined the Council’s strategy for the upcoming phase, emphasizing that the judicial authority plays a crucial role in achieving the desired changes across various sectors.
The President stressed the principle of collective responsibility and the collaborative relationship among all state authorities and institutions. He underscored the need for them to fulfill their duties in accordance with the constitution, laws, and the agreed-upon transitional references on national, regional, and international levels.
President Alimi acknowledged the judicial authority’s achievements over the past period and its future plans to enhance the performance of its various institutions. He described the judiciary as a vital pillar of the legitimate state in safeguarding national gains, maintaining social peace, and countering the destructive practices of the Houthi movement that threaten the national economy and the right to a decent life.
The President directed efforts to improve the judicial authority’s conditions, including the annual allowance for all its members starting next year, in accordance with the law and comparable to other state institutions.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister, Chief Justice, Central Bank Governor, and Ministers of Finance and Justice provided updates on the economic and financial situation, the judicial authority’s performance, and available support to enhance its role and independence. They emphasized the judiciary’s importance as a key component of comprehensive reforms and its role in promoting integrity, governance, and combating corruption.
Dr. Yahya Al-Shaibi, Director of the Presidential Office, also attended the meeting, highlighting the collaborative efforts to strengthen Yemen’s judicial system.
