President Rashad Alimi Meets UK Ambassador to Yemen

On Wednesday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, held a meeting with the UK Ambassador to Yemen, Abda Sharif. The discussions focused on several critical topics, including bilateral relations, national and regional developments, and coordination efforts between the two nations on various shared issues.

Addressing Government Reforms and International Support

During the meeting, President Alimi emphasized the importance of government reforms and the need for international support to mitigate the catastrophic impacts of Houthi terrorist attacks on oil facilities and maritime shipping vessels. He praised the distinguished bilateral relations between Yemen and the United Kingdom, highlighting British humanitarian and developmental interventions across multiple sectors.

Urging Global Support for Economic Recovery

President Alimi expressed his hope for international backing for Yemen’s economic rescue plan. He called for urgent measures to strengthen the national currency, aiming to stabilize the country’s economy amidst ongoing challenges.

Commitment to Comprehensive Peace

The President reaffirmed the Council’s and the government’s commitment to a comprehensive and just peace based on nationally, regionally, and internationally agreed-upon references. He welcomed all initiatives aimed at alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people, which has been exacerbated by the Iranian-backed Houthi militias.

Solidarity with Palestine

Furthermore, President Alimi reiterated Yemen’s steadfast position on regional developments, particularly regarding the Palestinian people’s right to establish a fully sovereign state. He expressed support for all efforts aimed at fulfilling their legitimate aspirations, including Saudi Arabia’s initiative for a two-state solution in accordance with international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative.

Meeting Attendance

Dr. Yahya Al-Shaibi, Director of the Office of the Presidency, attended the meeting, underscoring the significance of these discussions in fostering stronger ties between Yemen and the United Kingdom.

This meeting marks another step in enhancing diplomatic relations and addressing pressing issues that impact both nations.
