On Monday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, convened with leaders of the National Coalition of Political Parties and Components. This meeting, led by Dr. Ahmed Obaid Bin Daghr, Chairman of the Shura Council, aimed to discuss recent developments in local conditions and the role of national forces in addressing critical challenges.
President Alimi praised the political parties and components for their efforts in defending the state project and the republican system. He emphasized their role in providing advice, mobilizing resources, and working towards ending the suffering caused by the Houthi militia’s terrorist actions, which are backed by the Iranian regime.
The President highlighted that these regular meetings serve not as a promotional platform but as a necessary response to the complexities of political, economic, and military realities. He stated, “Engagement with national forces regarding current challenges remains a presidential commitment, driven by the requirements of national partnership and the transitional phase outlined in the power transfer announcement.”
In his remarks, President Alimi pointed out the critical nature of accurately diagnosing the current financial crisis, which stems from halted oil exports due to Houthi terrorist attacks. These attacks aim to undermine the republican momentum and plunge the country into a comprehensive humanitarian crisis. He discussed the repercussions of these assaults on the government’s ability to meet its obligations, especially regarding employee salaries and essential services.
The President assured that the Presidential Leadership Council would consistently communicate openly about these challenges. He stated, “We cannot afford to ignore them; instead, we must work closely with the government to turn these challenges into opportunities for self-reliance.”
President Alimi also addressed significant achievements related to the Council’s tasks under the power transfer announcement. He noted the unity and cohesion among Council members around a common goal and a shared adversary. Despite some differences, the components of the Council compete to lead the fight against terrorist militias.
The President reiterated the Council’s and the government’s commitment to maintaining open communication with all political forces. He emphasized that the state does not view parties merely as a spectator audience but as partners who share the burden of governance.
President Alimi discussed recent security successes, including the dismantling of a terrorist network led by Amjad Khaled. He regarded this achievement as not just a security milestone but a warning to all legitimacy components. He stated, “Today, we face a clear collaboration between the Houthi militias and terrorist organizations, including assassinations, bombings, drug trafficking, and organized crime.”
The President stressed the importance of political parties in shaping public opinion against the militias and collaborating with the government to confront challenges. He urged them to monitor performance for reform rather than merely seeking to highlight mistakes.
During the meeting, President Alimi listened to the National Coalition’s leaders as they shared their vision for enhancing unity and national alignment among all components. They also provided feedback on the executive authority’s performance and proposed improvements for better coordination among national forces and broader decision-making partnerships.
The Coalition leaders discussed urgent interventions needed to manage resources effectively, optimize foreign funding, and regulate monetary policy. They also called for reforms in the service sectors, particularly electricity and water.
The National Coalition’s leaders reaffirmed their commitment to working with various political and community forces to protect achievements, support the Presidential Leadership Council, and restore state institutions. They aim to end the Houthi-led coup and alleviate the suffering inflicted on citizens by the Iranian-backed militia.
The meeting concluded with the presence of Major General Saleh Al-Maqaleh, Director of the Presidential Leadership Council Office, underscoring the collaborative spirit among Yemen’s political factions in addressing the nation’s pressing challenges.
