The Arab League has emphasized the importance of taking decisive and practical steps to implement the two-state solution. This approach involves weakening the occupation and refraining from supporting it through sanctions on settlement activities and boycotting its products. Simultaneously, the League advocates for supporting efforts to establish a Palestinian state.
During a speech at a ministerial meeting held alongside the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit addressed the situation in Gaza and the necessity of the two-state solution as a pathway to just and comprehensive peace. He highlighted the urgency of increasing recognition of the Palestinian state, which would pave the way for constructive negotiations between two sovereign nations.
Aboul Gheit stressed that the only way to expand peace, recognition, and natural relations while safeguarding existing peace agreements is to end the occupation and establish a Palestinian state. He warned that the entire region will continue to suffer from instability and insecurity unless immediate and genuine efforts are made to change the current dire situation.
The Arab League’s call to action underscores the critical need for international cooperation in achieving a sustainable resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. As the world watches, the focus remains on fostering dialogue and working towards a peaceful future for both nations.
