Side protection work continues on the truck-only ring road in Al-Ghaydah city.
Ongoing Construction of Side Protection for Circular Road in Al-Ghaydah
The local authorities in Al-Mahra Governorate continue to implement side protection works for the circular road designated for trucks and heavy vehicles at the northern entrance of Al-Ghaydah city. This initiative aims to safeguard the road’s edges and adjacent residential buildings along the route leading to Wadi Al-Jazaa, covering a distance of 3.5 kilometers. The project receives support and funding from the local government.
Details of the Construction Works
Current construction efforts include the installation of concrete barriers stretching 1,300 meters. These barriers extend from the intersection of Al-Faqid Abu Jalal Street to the northern entrance of the city, reaching beyond Qatar School and the intersection with Al-Arbaeen Street, totaling 1.5 kilometers.
The heights of the concrete walls vary based on soil conditions, ranging from 1.5 meters to 3 meters. This design facilitates efficient water drainage, which helps protect the asphalt layer and ensures its longevity.
Infrastructure Improvement and Traffic Management
Engineer Awad Qwaizan, the Deputy Governor of Al-Mahra for Technical Affairs, emphasized that this project marks a significant advancement in the infrastructure of Al-Ghaydah city. The initiative aims to rehabilitate and pave the circular road after completing the earthworks, while also implementing concrete protections to ensure efficient drainage of floodwaters. He confirmed that the road will significantly alleviate traffic congestion within the city, enhance road sustainability, and improve transportation, especially for trucks and heavy vehicles.
Road Specifications and Benefits
The circular road extends from the junction below the government complex to the northern entrance of the capital, covering 3.5 kilometers. It features a dual asphalt road designated for vehicle and truck traffic, promoting smoother traffic flow and reducing pressure on the city’s main roads.
This ongoing project not only enhances the safety and functionality of the road but also contributes to the overall development of Al-Ghaydah’s infrastructure, ensuring better connectivity and transportation efficiency for its residents.
