Scout teams and military bands parade through Marib, celebrating the national holidays of September, October, and November.

Marib Celebrates 62nd Anniversary of September Revolution with Youth Parade

Honoring National Heritage

On Monday, the scout and guide teams in Marib province joined the Yemeni people in celebrating the 62nd anniversary of the September 26 Revolution and the 61st anniversary of the October 14 Revolution. This event also marked the observance of National Independence Day, which commemorates Yemen’s liberation from colonial rule on November 30, 1967.

Youth Parade Highlights Unity and National Pride

A vibrant youth parade unfolded in the streets of Marib, featuring 1,200 young people from various provinces across the country. The procession began at the Banks Roundabout and progressed along several streets, culminating at the Al-Qardahi Roundabout on University Street. The military music band played national anthems and celebratory songs, igniting the spirits of the crowds who gathered along the streets and on balconies to cheer for the participants.

As the parade moved through the city, flags waved proudly, and chants echoed, reflecting the deep connection between the Yemeni people and the significance of the September and October Revolutions.

Officials Express Pride in Revolutionary Legacy

During the reception of participants at the end of the parade route, Marib’s First Deputy Governor, Ali Al-Fatimi, along with the Director General of Youth and Sports, Ali Hashwan, and the Director of Moral Guidance, Brigadier Ahmed Al-Ashoul, expressed their pride in the revolutionary movements. They emphasized the high humanitarian values these revolutions represent, highlighting their role in liberating Yemen from oppressive rule and colonialism.

“The revolutions freed the Yemeni people from the darkness of tyrannical Imamate rule and the scourge of colonialism,” they stated, noting the ongoing struggles against hunger, poverty, disease, and isolation. They also pointed out that the actions of the Houthi militia have increased awareness among the youth about the significance of the revolutions and the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters.

Growing Public Support for Revolutionary Celebrations

The officials observed a rising momentum among citizens to celebrate the September 26 Revolution each year, surpassing the enthusiasm of previous years, even in areas controlled by Houthi militias. Despite the oppression and violence faced by those commemorating the occasion, citizens in these regions have begun celebrating the revolution well in advance of September.

The officials noted that tactics of violence, including killings, arrests, and forced disappearances, have not deterred the public’s commitment to the revolution. This resilience underscores the increasing awareness of the revolution’s value and the people’s rejection of the Houthi militia and its oppressive ideology.

Conclusion: A Celebration of Resilience and Hope

The events in Marib serve as a powerful reminder of the enduring spirit of the Yemeni people. As they celebrate their national heritage, the youth of Yemen demonstrate their commitment to freedom, unity, and the principles of the revolutions that shaped their nation.
