The Saudi Foreign Ministry has expressed the Kingdom’s approval of the statement issued by the office of the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Yemen, Mr. Hans Grundberg, on Tuesday, July 23, 2024. The statement pertains to an agreement between the Yemeni government and the Houthi Ansar Allah movement on measures to de-escalate tensions related to the banking sector and Yemeni airlines. The Ministry also voiced its support for Grundberg’s efforts aimed at achieving peace and security for Yemen and its people.
The Kingdom reaffirmed its ongoing support for Yemen, its government, and its people, emphasizing its continuous efforts to encourage de-escalation and maintain calm. It expressed hope that this agreement would lead to Yemeni parties coming together under the auspices of the UN Special Envoy for Yemen to discuss all economic and humanitarian issues. Such discussions are expected to contribute to reaching a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis within the framework of a roadmap to support the peace process in Yemen.
