Saudi Arabia has reiterated its unwavering support for Yemen’s security, stability, and sovereignty. This affirmation comes through an official statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressing full backing for President Rashad al-Alimi and the legitimate government.
The Ministry expressed regret over the United Arab Emirates’ pressure on the Southern Transitional Council (STC) to conduct military operations near Saudi Arabia’s southern borders in the provinces of Hadramout and Al-Mahra. The statement labeled these actions as a direct threat to Saudi national security and to stability in Yemen and the broader region.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry emphasized that these movements do not align with the foundational principles of the coalition supporting legitimacy in Yemen. Furthermore, they undermine efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace and stability in the country.
Saudi Arabia declared that any infringement on its national security constitutes a red line. The Kingdom will take all necessary measures to safeguard its security and interests.
The Kingdom reaffirmed its position on the Southern issue, describing it as a just cause with historical and social dimensions. Saudi Arabia insists that the resolution must occur through dialogue at the negotiating table, involving all Yemeni parties, including the STC.
Saudi Arabia urged the UAE to withdraw its military forces from Yemen within 24 hours. The Kingdom also called for an end to any military or financial support for any factions within the country. It stressed the importance of prioritizing brotherhood, good neighborliness, and the strong relationships among Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.
In conclusion, Saudi Arabia emphasized its commitment to enhancing bilateral relations and collaborative efforts that promote prosperity and stability in the region.
