Sanaa: Houthi militia summons three female employees for questioning over celebrating September 26.

Houthi Militia Summons Three Employees for Investigation Over September 26 Celebration

In a troubling development, the Houthi militia summoned three female employees from the Standards and Specifications Authority in Sana’a for individual investigations. The summons came through the so-called Security and Intelligence Agency, as the women faced accusations of celebrating the anniversary of the September 26 Revolution.

Details of the Summons

Activist Safa Aqba, who serves as the Deputy Director of the Measurements and Weights Department, reported that she, along with her colleagues Ilham Al-Sarimi and Suad Jazem, received the summons via the secretary of the general director. Aqba highlighted that such an incident had never occurred in the authority before.

Upon their arrival, Aqba recounted a disturbing experience. “When I arrived, the office manager closed the door behind me and locked it from the outside,” she stated. “I turned around to find two men I didn’t recognize. I was startled and asked them who they were. They identified themselves as members of the Security and Intelligence Agency and proceeded to interrogate me about my desire to celebrate the September 26 Revolution. I felt coerced into signing a written pledge.”

Call for Justice

Aqba continued her account, revealing that during the investigation, they contacted the general director’s office to summon her second colleague for questioning. She and her colleagues have since demanded accountability for the humiliation they endured at the hands of the Houthi militia.

Wider Context of Repression

This incident is part of a broader pattern of repression, as the Houthi militia has reportedly abducted dozens of citizens in areas under their control, including women and children, under the pretext of celebrating the September 26 Revolution.

The actions of the Houthi militia raise serious concerns about civil liberties and the treatment of individuals who express their political beliefs in Yemen.

As the situation unfolds, the international community watches closely, hoping for justice and accountability for those affected by these oppressive measures.
