Regulatory campaign launched in Al Hudaydah pharmacies to enforce price controls following currency stabilization.

Public Health Office Launches Pharmacy Monitoring Campaign

The Public Health and Population Office has initiated a field monitoring campaign targeting pharmacies. This effort, coordinated with the Supreme Authority for Medicines, coincides with the recent improvement in the national currency’s value. The campaign aims to regulate drug prices and prevent manipulation.

Emphasis on Compliance with Pricing Regulations

Dr. Mawlood Fouad, the Director of Health Facilities at the Public Health Office, stressed the importance of pharmacies adhering to the approved pricing structure. He emphasized that profit margins should not exceed 20%. Dr. Fouad warned against treating medications as commodities for profit at the expense of citizens’ health.

Positive Response from Pharmacies

Dr. Fouad acknowledged the commitment of several pharmacies to reduce prices on specific items. He noted that the Supreme Authority for Medicines has granted companies a grace period to adjust prices in line with the currency’s recovery.

Encouraging Public Participation

The campaign encourages citizens to report any violations. Dr. Fouad confirmed that this initiative is part of official efforts to ensure the availability of medications at fair prices and to enhance oversight in the healthcare sector.
