Prince’s Cultural Heritage Festival launched in Socotra’s Dixam region

On Friday evening, Eng. Raafat Al-Thaqali, the Governor of Socotra, inaugurated the Prince Cultural Heritage Festival in the Dixam area under the theme “Identity and Culture,” supported by the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Works.

The festival aims to highlight the cultural and heritage wealth of Socotra on local, regional, and international levels. It seeks to showcase the unique natural and environmental features of the archipelago to the world.

The event will feature traditional and folk art performances, camel shows, acrobatic displays, entertainment programs, and a youth football championship. Additionally, there will be market stalls and workshops for men’s and women’s crafts, sailors, pottery making, and cooking, with participation from international chefs. The festival will also offer competitions and prizes for attendees.

During the opening ceremony, Governor Al-Thaqali emphasized that the selection of the Dixam area to host the festival was due to its natural beauty and unique tourist attractions. He affirmed the local authority’s significant interest in the area through the implementation of vital projects that open broad developmental prospects for the entire region.

Governor Al-Thaqali appreciated the support of the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Works for various sectors in the province, including the cultural and heritage aspect. He also acknowledged the efforts and contributions of the festival organizers, committees, and participants.
