Prime Minister chairs a joint meeting with the Central Bank leadership and the Ministries of Finance and Oil.

Prime Minister Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak Leads Economic Meeting in Aden

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak convened a significant meeting in Aden, the temporary capital of Yemen. The gathering included key leaders from the Central Bank of Yemen, as well as representatives from the Ministries of Finance and Oil and Minerals. The primary focus of the meeting was to address pressing financial, economic, monetary, and service-related issues facing the country.

Strengthening the National Currency

During the meeting, participants discussed coordinated efforts with the Presidential Leadership Council aimed at bolstering the national currency. They emphasized the importance of integrating fiscal and monetary policies to stabilize exchange rates. This stabilization is crucial, as fluctuations in currency value have severe implications for the livelihoods of citizens.

Securing Local Market Needs

The discussion also covered strategies to ensure that local markets receive adequate supplies of oil derivatives and domestic gas across all provinces. This comes in light of the recent decision to ban the importation of oil and gas products by the Houthi militia, which has been designated as a foreign terrorist organization. The meeting addressed comprehensive plans to supply power generation stations with the necessary fuel for operations, particularly in preparation for the upcoming summer season.

Key Participants in the Meeting

The meeting featured several prominent figures, including Dr. Saeed Al-Shamasi, Minister of Oil and Minerals; Dr. Omar Banajeh, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen; and Hani Wahab, Deputy Minister of Finance. Additionally, Jamal Ben Ghanem, Executive Director of the Prime Minister’s Technical Team, along with Central Bank officials Hussein Al-Dahmashi and Hussein Al-Qaititi, and Tarek Al-Waleedi, Executive Director of the Yemeni Oil Company, were present.

This collaborative effort aims to address Yemen’s economic challenges and enhance the overall stability of the nation.
