In a heartfelt address to the Yemeni people on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, urged all Yemenis to reject division and conflict. He emphasized the importance of brotherhood, forgiveness, and national unity, encouraging citizens to rise above past grievances and remember the shared history and national struggles of their great nation.
President Alimi stated that nations cannot thrive on hatred or narrow-minded projects. Instead, he highlighted that justice, love, solidarity, and a sincere belief in people’s rights to security, dignity, and peace are essential for safeguarding the homeland.
In his speech, delivered on his behalf by Minister of Awqaf and Guidance Sheikh Turki Al-Wad’i, President Alimi extended warm greetings to all Yemenis, including the brave members of the armed forces and security forces. He prayed for a future where the Yemeni people experience security, stability, peace, justice, and prosperity that reflects their immense sacrifices and enduring patience.
The President acknowledged that this Eid arrives as the Yemeni people continue to face significant challenges due to the war ignited by the Iran-backed Houthi militias. He pointed out the resulting economic, living, and service crises that weigh heavily on citizens across the beloved nation.
President Alimi reaffirmed that the primary focus of the Council and the government remains on serving the people, improving their living conditions, and strengthening the presence of the state and its institutions. He asserted that this approach is vital for building trust, maintaining public order, and accumulating the national strength necessary to restore state institutions, end the coup, and achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on agreed-upon national, regional, and international references.
The President emphasized that serving citizens, alleviating their suffering, and preserving their dignity is a profound responsibility and a moral, religious, and national duty. He pledged that the state would continue its path of economic, service, and institutional reforms, focusing on resolving persistent issues in the electricity sector, ensuring regular salary payments for employees, stabilizing the national currency, combating terrorism, corruption, smuggling, and organized crime, and improving public resources to ease citizens’ hardships.
President Alimi declared that the battle to restore state institutions and end the Houthi coup remains the central issue for Yemen. He urged the group to recognize the lesson and cease draining the country’s resources, acknowledging the people’s will, which will not accept the return of the Imamate project or a regression to the past.
He reiterated the Yemeni state’s unwavering commitment to combat all forms of racial and sectarian discrimination and to criminalize the ideas of divine authority and selection, which contradict Islamic teachings and the values upon which the national state is built.
The President called for the unification of all national energies, capabilities, and resources to focus on restoring state institutions and countering the destructive Iranian project. He stressed that this unity is essential for achieving a just peace, lasting stability, and a secure future for Yemen’s children, women, and men.
In closing, President Alimi reminded the Yemeni people of the significance of Eid al-Adha, which embodies values of faith, sacrifice, and family ties. He urged everyone to reject division and conflict, promote brotherhood and forgiveness, and unite for a common destiny.
