On Thursday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, the head of the Presidential Leadership Council, convened with Mohammed Al-Ghaithi, the head of the Consultation and Reconciliation Committee. This meeting was aimed at analyzing the ongoing political developments in Yemen and is part of broader initiatives to bolster national consensus in the face of considerable challenges confronting the nation.
During the meeting, President Alimi received a comprehensive update on the activities of the Consultation and Reconciliation Committee over the preceding period. Discussions focused on the committee’s efforts to cultivate broad national consensus and address the collective aspirations for restoring state institutions, as well as advancing peace and stability within Yemen. The President underscored the committee’s essential role in supporting the Presidential Leadership Council and ensuring internal cohesion among various political factions.
President Alimi emphasized the necessity of transforming relationships among national components and forces from competition to collaborative partnerships, ensuring that no group feels marginalized. He articulated that any consensus initiative lacking in the restoration of state institutions would ultimately be insufficient in achieving its objectives. Furthermore, he affirmed that the partnership with Saudi Arabia is a critical stabilizing force and a fundamental guarantee for meeting the requirements of the transitional phase. He commended Saudi Arabia’s generous humanitarian and developmental efforts across multiple sectors, including its readiness to host and sponsor a comprehensive dialogue conference concerning the Southern issue.
Dr. Yahya Al-Shaibi, Director of the Presidential Office, was also present at the meeting, reinforcing the significance of these discussions in enhancing communication and cooperation among various national parties.
