The General Authority for Books, Publishing, and Distribution in Shabwa Province has finalized all arrangements for the inauguration of the Fifth Shabwa Book Fair. This highly anticipated event will commence tomorrow, Saturday, and will run for six days.
Khalid Faraj, the director of the General Authority for Books in Shabwa, shared details with the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) about the fair. The event will feature participation from twenty local and Arab publishing houses, presenting a wide array of books across various genres. Attendees can expect to find approximately 15,000 titles, totaling 150,000 copies, encompassing scientific, cultural, religious, and literary works, as well as children’s literature.
In addition to the book fair, organizers have planned a series of complementary activities. These include a scientific day hosted by Shabwa University, focusing on the significance of books and reading in daily life. A cultural day organized by the local culture office will also take place, along with a special day dedicated to women and children. Furthermore, the fair will highlight works from local authors, showcasing their contributions to literature.
Faraj expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from local authorities, emphasizing their role in ensuring the success of the fair. Their assistance has been crucial in facilitating various activities organized by the General Authority for Books in the province.
Dr. Tawfiq Basarda, president of Shabwa University, and Assistant Governor Salem Al-Ahmadi recently visited the venue at the Cultural Center of Poet Yasslam bin Ali in the city of Ataq. They reviewed the arrangements and preparations in place to ensure the fair’s success.
This year’s Shabwa Book Fair promises to be a vibrant celebration of literature and culture, fostering a love for reading within the community.
