In a significant reaffirmation of the government’s dedication to gender equality, Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak has reiterated the commitment to empowering women to actively participate in all areas of life, enhancing their presence in decision-making positions, and supporting their causes at various levels.
During a meeting held on Wednesday in the temporary capital, Aden, with Dr. Shafiqah Said, the Chair of the National Women’s Committee, and several committee members, the Prime Minister lauded the pivotal role of Yemeni women throughout history. He highlighted that women have consistently been fundamental contributors to the nation’s equation, fully engaging in all its battles and challenges. He emphasized the government’s keenness to support women’s empowerment, ensuring they attain the status and roles they rightfully deserve and overcoming the obstacles they face under current circumstances.
The Prime Minister was briefed by the Chair and members of the committee on the committee’s activities in the recent period, the challenges encountered, and the government support required to further empower women economically, socially, and developmentally. The importance of completing the national plan for women’s empowerment was also discussed.
This meeting underscores the Yemeni government’s ongoing efforts to promote gender equality and the empowerment of women, signifying a hopeful step towards overcoming the multifaceted challenges faced by women in Yemen.
