Yemeni Prime Minister Orders Comprehensive Review of Ministry of Awqaf Affairs Since 2015
In a decisive move to enhance administrative and financial transparency within the Ministry of Awqaf and Guidance, Yemen’s Prime Minister, Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, has directed a thorough review of the ministry’s operations dating back to 2015. This review aims to identify and rectify any imbalances, thereby reinforcing the ministry’s role in effectively carrying out its duties and improving services for citizens, particularly in the areas of Hajj and Umrah.
Government’s Stance on Corruption and Accountability
During a meeting held in the temporary capital, Aden, on Tuesday, which included Minister of Awqaf and Guidance, Mohammed Shabibah, Minister of Finance, Salem bin Breik, and several department heads from both ministries, Prime Minister Mubarak emphasized the importance of adopting serious, transparent, and responsible measures to combat corruption. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and institutional reform, highlighting that financial compliance procedures are being implemented across all ministries and governmental bodies without exception, with full support from the Presidential Leadership Council. The Prime Minister made it clear that there would be no tolerance for laxity in these efforts.
Performance Report on the Hajj Season
Minister Shabibah presented a report on the performance of the Hajj season for the year 1445 AH, detailing the services provided to Yemeni pilgrims, their transportation, the completion of Hajj rituals, and their safe return home. The report also covered the measures taken to evaluate outcomes, aiming for continuous improvement of services and learning from past experiences to benefit future pilgrims. Additionally, it addressed the organization of Umrah activities, highlighted challenges faced by the mission, and proposed solutions to overcome them.
Appreciation for Efforts and International Cooperation
Prime Minister Mubarak expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the Yemeni Hajj mission in providing the best possible service to the pilgrims and extended his gratitude to Saudi Arabia for its role in facilitating a safe and accessible environment for Hajj participants from around the world.
Preparing for Future Hajj Seasons
The Prime Minister also directed attention to the mistakes made in previous Hajj seasons and the need for preparation for the upcoming season to ensure the provision of the best services for Yemeni pilgrims. He emphasized the importance of listening to complaints and feedback and responding positively to them.
The meeting was attended by the Director of the Prime Minister’s Office, Engineer Anis Baharitha, signifying the high level of government involvement in the review and improvement process.
