The General Authority for Regulating Land Transport announced today, Tuesday, that more than 9,000 pilgrims have arrived at the Al-Wadiah border crossing since the commencement of operations on May 4. This season has seen an impressive influx, with current figures indicating that a total of 9,247 pilgrims have successfully crossed into Saudi Arabia.
Faris Shaafal, head of the authority, revealed that this number represents 81% of the total pilgrims planned for this season. The transportation of these pilgrims has been facilitated by a fleet of 260 buses, out of the 320 approved for this transportation initiative. The efficient logistics have played a crucial role in ensuring smooth travel for those making the sacred journey.
According to the Ministry of Awqaf and Guidance, the total number of pilgrims scheduled for land transport this year is 11,445. As of two days ago, the Ministry reported that 12,576 Yemeni pilgrims had arrived in the holy lands, with 7,848 utilizing land routes to reach their destination. This reflects a strong commitment from both governmental and transport authorities to support pilgrims during this significant religious season.
