Local Authorities Sign Solar Energy Partnership Agreement in Wadi Hadramout
Local authorities in Wadi Hadramout and the Desert region signed a preliminary investment partnership agreement today. This agreement establishes a limited liability company focused on supplying, constructing, financing, developing, operating, and maintaining a 50-megawatt solar power station. The project will feature battery energy storage systems (BESS) and will follow the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model in the Cotton Plateau.
Significance of the Agreement in Energy Development
The agreement was signed by Jam’an Barba’a, the local authority representative for Wadi Hadramout and the Desert region, alongside Assistant Engineer Hisham Al-Saidi. This initiative aligns with the local government’s efforts to implement Cabinet Resolution No. 7 of 2026, which addresses the public-private partnership unit. Furthermore, the agreement complies with Yemeni investment laws and regulations.

The partnership aims to advance the electricity sector in Wadi Hadramout through strategic projects that will:
