Over 86,000 people have been displaced due to Houthi escalation in six Yemeni governorates.

Increase in Displaced Persons in Yemen

The Executive Unit for the Management of Displaced Camps announced a significant rise in the number of displaced Yemenis due to the military escalation by Houthi terrorist militias. As of September 12, 2026, the total number of displaced individuals reached 86,415 across six governorates.

New Displacement Figures

The unit reported the following statistics:

  • 12,597 displaced families comprising 86,415 individuals.

The waves of displacement affected six governorates, including:

  • Taiz: 7,186 families (50,454 individuals)
  • Lahij: 2,540 families (17,780 individuals)
  • Al Hudaydah: 1,471 families (10,297 individuals)
  • Aden: 815 families (3,789 individuals)
  • Abyan: 573 families (4,011 individuals)
  • Shabwa: 12 families (84 individuals)

Severe Humanitarian Conditions

The report confirmed that displaced families endure extremely difficult conditions, lacking:

  • Emergency shelter
  • Food
  • Safe drinking water
  • Health services
  • Sanitation
  • Protection services

Urgent Call to International Organizations

The Executive Unit issued an urgent humanitarian appeal to international organizations and donor agencies for immediate intervention. They emphasized the need for life-saving responses without waiting for detailed assessments, focusing on protecting the most vulnerable groups:

  • Children
  • Women
  • The elderly
  • Persons with disabilities
