OCHA reports that Israeli airstrikes have killed dozens of civilians and destroyed medical supplies near Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital.

OCHA Reports Rising Casualties and Medical Supply Crisis in Gaza

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has reported that ongoing Israeli airstrikes in Gaza have resulted in the deaths of dozens of Palestinians, including children. The bombardment has also severely damaged a medical warehouse near the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, destroying essential medical supplies that the World Health Organization had delivered to the region.

International Humanitarian Law Under Threat

OCHA emphasized that international humanitarian law mandates the protection of civilians and prohibits attacks on medical facilities. The organization warned that a significant funding shortfall has led to a drastic decline in the availability of medicines and medical supplies. This shortage negatively impacts treatment and diagnostic services in hospitals across Gaza.

Severe Medical Service Crisis

The report highlighted a critical shortage of supplies for kidney dialysis and cardiac catheterization services. Additionally, essential materials for infection prevention and control remain pending approval for entry into the region. There is a notable lack of disinfectants necessary for sterilization and controlling the spread of infections.

OCHA confirmed that the continued bombardment and destruction of healthcare infrastructure exacerbate the humanitarian crisis. This situation threatens the lives of thousands of patients who rely on medical services that are now nearly non-existent.
