MediaTek Unveils Dimensity 9600 Pro Chip with 2-Nanometer Technology

MediaTek has officially launched its new flagship chip, the Dimensity 9600 Pro. This release positions MediaTek among the first companies to adopt 2-nanometer manufacturing technology, following Samsung’s Exynos 2600 and Apple’s A20 Pro. The new chip marks a significant advancement in energy efficiency, artificial intelligence capabilities, and overall performance for flagship smartphones.

Significant Improvements in Energy Efficiency and Performance

According to the published data:

• The chip reduces power consumption in multi-core tasks by 61% compared to the previous generation.
• It achieves a 17% increase in single-core performance.
• Multi-core performance sees a 15% improvement.

The Dimensity 9600 Pro features an 8-core design:

• It includes two ultra-fast cores with a frequency of up to 4.55 gigahertz.
• Six large cores, all built using 2-nanometer technology.

On-Device Artificial Intelligence Processing

The chip incorporates a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) 1090, capable of running artificial intelligence models with 30 billion parameters directly on the device, eliminating the need for cloud processing. Additionally, MediaTek has introduced a second NPU dedicated to energy efficiency, which reduces power consumption for continuous AI tasks by 40%.
